Welcome to J K Online Classes. These are the questions of weekly test of Science subject for student of class 5. You can also read the questions and get yourself prepared for any examination.
This test was taken on 2 December 2024.
This is the question paper down below:
A. Fill in the blanks:
1. The left side of the heart has the blood rich in oxygen.
2. The heart is divided into four chambers.
3. The biggest artery in the body is the aorta.
4. The throbbing of the arteries with the heartbeat is called the pulse.
5. The valves in the heart allow blood to flow only one way.
B. True or False?
1. The aorta carries blood from the heart to the lungs. False
2. The walls of the heart are thick and muscular. True
3. Veins carry blood from the lungs to the left atrium. True
4. The left ventricle pushes blood into the aorta. True
5. Blood loses carbon dioxide and picks up oxygen in the lungs. True
C. Multiple Choice Questions:
1. What is the main function of the circulatory system?
a) To digest food
b) To transport oxygen and nutrients to the body
c) To help in breathing
d) To help in movement
2. Which organ pumps blood throughout the body?
a) Brain
b) Stomach
c) Heart
d) Lungs
3. Which blood vessels carry oxygenated blood from the heart to the body?
a) Veins
b) Capillaries
c) Arteries
d) Lymphatic vessels
4. What is the name of the blood vessel that carries deoxygenated blood from the body back to the heart?
a) Pulmonary artery
b) Aorta
c) Superior vena cava
d) Carotid artery
5. Which of the following is NOT a part of the circulatory system?
a) Heart
b) Lungs
c) Blood vessels
d) Kidneys
D. Write short answers:
1. Define valve.
Answer: A valve is a structure in the heart or blood vessels that allows blood to flow in only one direction and prevents it from flowing backward.
2. Name the chambers of the heart.
Answer: The chambers of the heart are the right atrium, left atrium, right ventricle, and left ventricle.
3. How are arteries different from veins?
Answer: Arteries carry oxygenated blood away from the heart to the body, while veins carry deoxygenated blood from the body back to the heart. Arteries have thicker, more muscular walls than veins.
4. Mention two things that are important for a healthy heart.
Answer: Regular exercise and a balanced diet are important for maintaining a healthy heart.
5. What is pulse?
Answer: Pulse is the rhythmic throbbing of the arteries as blood is pumped through them by the heart. It can be felt at certain points on the body, such as the wrist or neck.
E. Explain briefly:
1. How does blood circulate between the heart and the lungs?
Answer: Blood circulates between the heart and the lungs through the pulmonary circulation. Deoxygenated blood from the body enters the right atrium of the heart and is then pumped into the right ventricle. From there, it is sent to the lungs via the pulmonary artery, where it picks up oxygen and releases carbon dioxide. Oxygenated blood then returns to the heart through the pulmonary veins and enters the left atrium. The oxygen-rich blood is then pumped into the left ventricle and is distributed to the rest of the body through the aorta.
2. What is a heartbeat? How is it related to the pulse?
Answer: A heartbeat is the rhythmic contraction and relaxation of the heart muscles, which pump blood throughout the body. The heartbeat occurs in two phases: systole (when the heart contracts and pumps blood) and diastole (when the heart relaxes and fills with blood). The heartbeat is related to the pulse because the pulse is the feeling of the blood flow as it is pushed through the arteries every time the heart beats. The pulse is a direct reflection of the heartbeat and can be felt at various points in the body, such as the wrist or neck.
