"Adventures of Isabel" is a unique poem which has been written by American Poet Ogden Nash. The poet is well known for composing up to 500 pieces of comic verses.
The poem reflects the courage of a little girl, who faced lot of challenges but she overcome all the hurdles in life. The first few lines express that the girl was frightened by a bear and was ready to eat her up. Isabel remained unruffled and calm and instead of getting frightened she killed and ate up the animal.
After her encounter with bear, Isabel come in contact with an ugly witch who was determined to turn the girl into a toad. Once again she remained unruffled and also refused to scream. Instead of screaming or crying, she simply squeezed the witch, turned her into milk liquid and drank her.
Next she meets a giant, who was horrible and only having one eye in middle of his forehead, the giant threatened Isabel to crush her bones and eat her up like a bread but instead Isabel didn't cried nor screamed. She cut the giant's head off and moved further.
And at last Isabel meets a doctor who seemed to be troubled. He tried all his treatments and offered pills to scare her. However, in spite of all the medications and treatments, Isabel did not scared or scream. Her calm attitude treated the troubled doctor.
This poem shows how attitude of a person could enable him to come out of any troubled situation he/she is in. Even if one have to go through toughest time, it has an attitude to come over. As we all faces challenges, we shouldn't be overwhelmed by them rather, we have to fight them and continue our race in the journey of life.
